Deferment

You may be able to temporarily suspend or reduce your monthly payments through deferment, if you are experiencing economic hardship. You may, however, still be responsible for interest that accrues during this time, depending on the type of student loan you hold.

Forbearance

Similar to deferment, a forbearance will suspend or reduce your payments for a period of time. Regardless of the type of student loan you have, you will need to pay back all interest that accrues during the forbearance period.

Loan Forgiveness

There are several student loan forgiveness programs available, such as Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF), Teaching, Nursing and Disability. Depending on which you may qualify for, a portion (or the full amount) may be forgiven in as little as five years.

Our student loan repayment options can help keep your loan out of default or even forgive a portion of the balance.

Payment Plans

Getting your loans back on track is much easier when they are simply delinquent and not in default. That’s why it’s so important to work with us before it gets to that point.
  • Graduated Repayment
  • Extended Repayment
  • Pay as You Earn
  • Income-Based Repayment
  • Income-Contingent Repayment
  • Income-Sensitive Repayment

Loan Refinancing

Student loan refinancing can help you lower your current interest rate and payments. To qualify, lenders will consider your credit score, income and existing debt. Before you pay anyone a referral fee, speak with our student loan advisors to see if this is the best option for you.

Forbearance & Deferment

In some cases, consolidating your student loans may be the best solution for lowering your monthly payments and putting your loans back into good standing.

Loan Consolidation

If you are experiencing financial hardship and need to suspend your student loan payments, deferment may be a good choice. Federal Subsidized Loans and Perkins Loans typically don’t accrue interest during the deferment period.

Parent PLUS Help

If you helped your child by taking out Patent PLUS loans and now are struggling to make those payments, you could be eligible for one of several payment plans, including:

Graduated Repayment
Extended Repayment
Pay as You Earn

In addition, we may be able to help you with loan refinancing or consolidation. In some cases, you may even qualify for Parent PLUS Loan Forgiveness.

What Clients Are Saying

  • My student loan payment was $903 a month but after calling SLRS they were able to lower my payment to $186 a month and now my payments go towards a student loan forgiveness program that will forgive my loans after 240 months of on time payments. With over $100,000 in student loans I didn't think I would ever be debt-free but now I know it's possible
